In 1989, Joseph Joestar arrives in Japan to meet his troubled grandson, Joutarou Kuujou, at the request of his daughter, Holly. Joutarou believes he is possessed by an evil spirit, but Joseph reveals the truth: it is actually a “Stand,” a manifestation of one’s fighting spirit. Joseph, along with his companion Mohammed Avdol, also has a Stand and has learned to control it.

The Joestar family’s enemy returns from the grave, causing their Stands to awaken. When Holly falls gravely ill due to her inability to control her Stand, the group embarks on a globe-trotting adventure to Egypt to stop the enemy and save Holly.
