Bocchi the Rock! follows the story of Hitori Gotoh, nicknamed “Bocchi-chan,” an incredibly introverted and socially awkward girl who struggles to communicate with others, often starting her conversations with a timid “Ah…”. In middle school, Hitori picked up the guitar, hoping that joining a band might help her break out of her shell and allow her to shine despite her shyness. However, her extreme introversion left her without any friends, so she spent hours each day practicing the guitar alone.

Over time, she became a skilled guitarist and started uploading videos of her performances online under the alias “Guitar Hero,” dreaming of one day playing live at her school’s cultural festival. Despite her talents, Hitori finds herself in high school without any bandmates or friends, still struggling to make meaningful connections. As she continues to navigate her lonely high school life, Hitori dreams of finding a band where she can truly belong and show her talent to the world.
