Blue Lock follows the Japanese Football Association’s radical response to the state of Japanese soccer. To achieve their goal of winning the World Cup, they hire the enigmatic coach Jinpachi Ego, who believes that Japan lacks a truly egoistic striker—a player singularly focused on scoring goals. To remedy this, Jinpachi creates the Blue Lock, a high-stakes facility where 300 of Japan’s most talented high school strikers are pitted against each other. Only the final winner will earn the right to become the national team’s striker, while the others will be permanently banned from representing Japan.
Among those selected for this intense program is Yoichi Isagi, a striker haunted by his decision to pass the ball to a teammate during a crucial high school match, leading to his team’s defeat. Isagi questions whether being more selfish would have changed the outcome. Determined to prove himself and clear his doubts, he seizes the opportunity offered by Blue Lock, aiming to become the world’s greatest striker and lead Japan to World Cup victory.
